Does pairing infrared film and an infrared filter improve the quality?

If I use an infrared filter (hoya R72) with Infrared film (Illford SFX iso 200) together will that produce a better quality infrared photograph? I also read online somewhere that a red filter helps improve the quality.|||Infrared film when used with an infrared filter produces an image with the infrared effect. The infrared filter removes all visible light so that you get only infrared light. The "quality" of the image will decrease but you'll see foliage turn white and skies turn dark. It's a very cool effect.

If you're shooting SFX, Ilford produces an SFX filter which will produce the greatest effect. The Hoya filter has a 720nm cut off, which is fairly long. I think you'll get blank film with that filter. Try the SFX filter or use the Maco 820IR film with the same filter. The ISO is greatly reduced. The effective ISO with your R72 filter and Maco film is ASA 3.
