What would cause a film to cover my throat after I eat anything?

If I drink coffee I'm alright but as soon as I eat something I can feel a film on my throat that constantly causes me to clear my throat to speak clearly. It drives me crazy because my voice is usually deep and carries but it sounds like its cracking the rest of the day after I've eaten something. I don't smoke and it is annoying to me and others around me that I work with.
