How long does it take film to expire at room temperature?

I've had these two cases of film, kept in the box %26amp; what not:

Kodak Gold 200 %26amp; Kodak Max Versatility Plus 800.

I've had them at least for 5 six years. I never put them in fridge like one should have done because I didn't know this information until I started taking photography in college. :[

Is the film still good?

Also, when developing film, I'm assuming it's alright to photo process a color film %26amp; a black %26amp; white film at the same time, yes?|||You can use one roll out of each case (are you sure it is a whole case, not just a package of 20?), shot them against a colour checker and then have them printed.

This will tell you what kind of colour shift you can expect. Hopefully, it will be correctable by placing CC filters on the front of your cameras lens.|||Okay. if you use it in a camera, it may be discolored. If you do process it, for the safest method on expired film, use D-76 chemistry instead of C-41. D-76 is a black and white chemical, so the silver image will remain instead of being completely replaced by dyes. It's safer and easier too. When you get enlargements: try to use a dichroic enlarger (color one) and set the blue/red (cyan and magenta) channels all the way up to counterbalance the brown color from using b/w chemicals. You may lose contrast though. Tell us what you achieve, we're all eager to hear!
